6 Interior Design Trends Right Now

Well lets just get right to it, shall we? These interior design trends are everywhere right now, so lets take a look!

Soft muted colors and pastels are quietly storming onto the scene. With Benjamin Moore announce Simple White as their color of the year, and Pantone selecting Rose Quartz and Serene as their colors, I think its safe to say we will see these on the scene for a while!

Gray has been the go-to neutral for a while, and it staying power is very strong. Classic and unassuming, it is a grounding color to any space it graces. Gray perfectly showcases anything paired with it, and gives a feeling of refined simplicity. The shade and tone options available will suit any design taste, so go ahead, gray it up.

Branch Out From Stainless Fixtures

Soft brushed gold, matte black, rich bronze, burnished copper, muted matte silver;  there are so many options for your fixtures these days! These beautiful metal elements that will elevate any space and add the perfect amount of class and sparkle to any room in the house.

ReThink The Accent Wall

Interesting and unique wall treatments are getting some room on the stage with the standard paint scene. With fantastic prints in wall paper, 3D tiles, fabric, and many other options, why stick to just paint when you can make a real statement with a unique wall treatment!

Goodbye Matchy Matchy spaces

"We actually live here". It's a so comforting and welcoming when you walk in a space that has been created over time and is peak into someones soul. Designing a room with pieces such as heirlooms, travel souvenirs, keepsakes, handmade items and things that you love, you take your place from being just a house to a home.

Non-Stainless Appliances

While classic stainless steel will forever be just that, classic, new variations of color are making it to the design world. Black stainless, copper, arctic white, painted; there is something for everyone.

You're Who Now?

Well, the day has come.  After a lot of consideration, I have decided to do a little (or, not-so-little) re-branding of Salt Design. This stems mostly from boring legal reasons (ie: wanting to trademark my name), but I am excited about the new name of both my interior design company and my Etsy store!

Why Bella Native you ask? Well, its a nod to my pup, Bella, who passed away last year - she was my first dog, and she is very missed! But it also mean beautiful - which is exactly what I am striving from in my design work. Native is simply because I am a proud Colorado native, and I love everything about our square, fun, and gorgeous state!

Here's to a bright and beautifully designed future!

Best Neutral Paint Colors For Any Space

So I get this question a lot [a lot], no really, a lot. "I'm [repainting] [moving] [buying a house], and I want to know, what is the best neutral paint color for my house?"

Whether you are wanting a fresh modern color for your current home, or getting ready to put your house on the market and needing to appeal to a wide range of buyers, a great neutral wall color is a must. And paint, as most everyone knows, is one of the least expensive ways you can modernize and change up the look of your house without breaking the bank.

So here goes - here are 4 of my favorite neutral paint colors right now that work in nearly every space in any home.

#4 Chocolate Froth by Behr (720C-2)

Want a light, understated color on your walls? This quiet neutral is for you then. It's a whisper of warm 'greige' that will add just the right amount of serene color to your space and will let your decor do the talking.

#3 Silver Strand by Sherwin Williams (SW7057)

This lovely pale gray has a cool undertone with just a the slightest hint of aqua. Designers love it because it's modern and sophisticated and goes with just about anything!

#2 Pussywillow by Sherwin Willams (SW7643)

This paint color is really fantastic. It's a perfect medium 'greige'. The undertones fall right in the middle of warm and cool, and it add a good amount of color to make your trim and doors pop! A saturated neutral that will make your space feel cozy, inviting and timeless.

#1 Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore (HC172)

This beautiful Benjamin Moore color is e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e. And for good reason! It makes even the gray-skeptics happy, it's the perfect balance of color saturation, and it simply goes with every decor. What does this mean? It means you won't be repainting anytime soon, and I think that makes almost everyone do a happy dance.

What is your favorite neutral paint color that has worked for your home? I'd love to hear from you and see pictures of your lovely homes!

Top 2015 Interior Design Trends

2015 is ushering in a lot of classic designs back onto the scene. Pantone has named 'Marsala' the color of the year for 2015, and this influences everything from fashion to interior decor. The warm rustic wine red is very complimentary to many of this years biggest design trends.

In no particular order, these are just a few of the top trends for 2015!

1. Gold Accents

Yes, gold is back, and I am in love with this trend. I probably have more gold spray paint than anyone should be allowed to have. Gold is showing up everywhere; everything from light fixtures and faucets, to pillows and artwork and furniture. To keep the gold feeling current and not gaudy (I'm looking at you Donald Trump), use it as an accent in your space to add just the right amount of warm sparkle to your home.

2. Succulents

It just doesn't get any more charming than these little plants. I am obsessed with them. While plants are never 'out of trend' for interior design, these little plants add so much life to a space. The other big seller? They are super easy to care for. There are tons of different types and variety and they are inexpensive! Doesn't get much better than that!

3. Blue Accent Colors

Yes, Marsala is the color of the year (according to Pantone), but blue, specifically Navy, is coming back strong. This rich classic color is just lovely with the gold accents that are back on the scene, but still timeless enough that you wont be repainting or redecorating next spring.

4. Rustic Glam Decor

This trend has been on the scene for a few years now, but it is still going strong in 2015. Blending rustic with elegant adds the perfect combination of sophistication and comfort. Blend weathered wood and metal with cozy fabrics and elegant, classic accents , and you have the right recipe for making a space feel inviting and beautiful.

5. Animal Motif

Okay, all you doubters, just take a breath. We aren't talking about cheetah and zebra print {everything} or the latest collection of taxidermy.

What we are talking about is this classic design element making a huge comeback in some really fresh and fun ways. This is one of my favorite elements to add to any space. Whether it be a cowhide rug or bench, a sheep skin throw, printed accent pillows, an equestrian wall mural, or birdcage style light fixture, it all adds a fun and inviting vibe into your home. Get on board!

6. Solid Geometric Patterns

While chevron is now taking a bit of a breather from decor scene, lots of other geometric patterns are still going strong. Trellis, chain link, triangles, cross print, diamonds and herringbone are just some of the prints that are showing up everywhere. Whether in drapery, wallpaper, flooring, lighting or decor, clean patterns like these will add visual interest to a space that may otherwise be lacking that 'fun' factor.
